Weekly post about movies that are so terrible and yet so fascinating!
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)
This is one of the worst films of all time. Ed Wood tried his best to stage an alien invasion epic and failed miserably. Poor production values, terrible acting, unbelievable dialogue, cut shots that move from night to day and then again to night for no apparent reason, model-kit flying saucers, a cardboard cemetery, a shower curtain and some chairs are the set of an airline cockpit, and most importantly, the Plan 9 doesn’t make any sense at all. Bela Lugosi, the movie star, died three years before the film’s release. Therefore some of his scenes were replaced by another actor. The new guy was one foot taller than Lugosi and had to hide his face with a cape in every scene.
Ed Wood, Jr. was not the most talented director, but surely was determined. Although terrible this movie is also immensely enjoyable.
