Rachel wakes up on a shallow grave in the woods and pulls herself out of the ground. With events of the previous night a blur, Rachel returns to her town to talk with the ones she trusts, but her day gets weirder and weirder and people keep telling her she isn’t Rachel. In the mean time, a mysterious woman keeps appearing to people in town and each time she does, someone dies.
Rachel is beginning to suspect she rose from the grave for a reason and is determined to find out who killed her and why.
This is an amazing graphic novel from Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise, Echo…). The artwork and panel design is brilliant and the story really grabs the reader right from the first chapter. The first eight pages of Rachel Rising contain no dialogue, and Terry Moore executes them perfectly, which is a great accomplishment. Intriguing, mysterious, violent, creepy, this is a great buy and easily one of the best comics being published right now.
