Behind the scenes of Salvador Dalís “In Voluptas Mors” (“Voluptuous Death”)

In 1951, surrealist artist Salvador Dalí teamed up with photographer Philippe Halsman to create one of the most complex portraits: In Voluptas Mors or Voluptuous Death. The image depicts Dalí posing beside a giant skull, a living picture, comprising seven nude female models. It took all in all Halsman and Dalí three hours to arrange the models according to Dalí’s precise sketch.
