Barlowe’s Inferno – Book Illustrations

Wayne Barlowe was born in 1958 in Glen Cove, NY and later attended the Cooper Union School of Art in New York City. He is a world-renowned artist specializing in science fiction, fantasy, and horror. His works have appeared on numerous book covers, as concept work for Hollywood blockbusters, as well as art galleries.
Barlowe’s Inferno (published in 1998) is an imaginary journey to a unique and vivid depiction of Hell. A loose running narrative to the book’s striking images explains that Barlowe has made an undisclosed deal in order to be taken on a tour of the Pit by Sargatanas, the Revealer of Hell, and one of the Demons Major.
