The Bloody Countess/ La Condesa Sangrienta

“The Bloody Countess,” is a 1971 prose work by Argentine poet Alejandra Pizarnik (1936–1972), inspired in the history of Elizabeth Báthory, the female serial killer, murder of 650 girls. The book is illustrated with the magnificent and macabre work of Santiago Caruso.

“The aim of this book is to show the madness and the inner alchemy of Bathory, in about 26 images. These images explore the absolute power, the torture, the desire of eternity, the hungry soul of the Human.”
