Gojin Ishihara (1923–1997), aka Gekko Hayashi, was an amazing Japanese illustrator, well known for his disturbing imagery for childrens books and also for his homoerotic art.
The Illustrated Book of Japanese Monsters (1972), is a macabre children-oriented book, filled with supernatural creatures from the Japanese folklore. Death, cannibalism, deadly cats and the pits of hell are some of the few ingredients of this bizarre and grotesque recipe.
