The Babadook (Movie, 2014)
A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son’s fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.
This is one of those rare horror movies, where everything works and everything has a deep meaning. It is creepy, unexpected and also moving. The true horror of this movie doesn’t come from the Babadook creature or from the disturbing children book that tells his story, it comes from the grieving mother. Her emotions and deep depression are far more horrifying, and Essie Davis gives an amazing performance.
The Babadook is a refreshing horror film made for adults, it is clever, beautifully shot and a must watch for horror fans.
