The Bloody Meat Tent

Andrea Hasler’s Matriarch references a 1981 anti-nuclear protest, the Greenham Common Women’s Peace, a historic protest in which 30,000 women staged a massive and long-standing demonstration at Greenham Common to protest against the nuclear weapons that were stored there at the time.

According to Hasler, the work metaphorically “[takes] the notion of the tents which were on site during the women’s peace camp as the container for emotions and [humanizes] these elements to create emotional surfaces.”
